Happy Thanksgiving!
I enjoy Thanksgiving so much because it is a time that usually I spend with family that I don’t get to see on a regular basis. This year, because of the timing of our lease, we are at home surrounded by the boxes we love (to hate) (for the sake of Allah subhana wa ta’ala of course *wink). My Thanksgiving dinner was last weekend at my parents’ house when I was there to drop off our son for the week. An aunt was there who I haven’t seen in years and a friend of the family whom I see every Thanksgiving. I am very thankful everyday that my family is still here on this earth. I don’t know about their akhirah and it frightens me, but here I can love them and be kind to them and fight with them all the things families do that somehow add up to being loving…
Insha’allah, this Thanksgiving finds with family or friends or both, in good health, good faith, and enough to eat to make until tomorrow. I am thinking of you this year as DH and I pack without a place to move (Allah will provide. Soon. Ameen!) and there is chaos around us. All my love to each of you. I hope you are blessed every day.
Yours truly, Umm Hamza
